Algo trading, without writing code

Algorithmic trading is just trading by a rule you wrote down instead of a feeling you had on the day. PapsDigital takes the sentence you would use to explain your setup to another trader, turns it into exact rules, replays them over real candle history, and only then lets them send you live alerts.

What algorithmic trading actually means

An algorithm is a rule with no room left for interpretation. "Buy the dip" is not one. "Buy when RSI(14) closes under 30 while price is above the 200 EMA, target +3%, stop −2%" is one, because two people reading it would take the same trade at the same candle. The value is not the automation. It is that a rule this exact can be tested against history before it costs you anything, and a feeling cannot.

From a sentence to a rule set

You describe the setup in your own words. The strategy builder parses it into an entry condition, an exit condition, a target and a stop, and shows you each one as text you can read and correct. Nothing is hidden behind a black box: if the parse got your intent wrong, you can see exactly where and say it again.

  • Plain English inNo formula editor and no scripting language to learn first.
  • Exact rules outEntry, exit, target and stop, written out so you can audit them.
  • Yours to correctRewrite the sentence and the rules change with it.

Backtesting on real candles, trade by trade

The rules replay over the same candle history the terminal charts, and every entry and exit is marked on the chart where it happened. You get the trade count, the win rate and the maximum drawdown, not a single flattering number. A strategy that made money on four trades has told you almost nothing, and a backtest that shows you the trades is the only kind that lets you notice that.

Paper trade before real money

A backtest is history, and history is the easy part. Before a strategy earns anything real, it runs forward on live prices with imaginary money, so you watch it meet conditions it has never seen. Only after that does it start sending live alerts with entry, stop and target attached.

Where the algorithm stops and you start

PapsDigital does not place trades on your behalf. An algorithm here produces a tested rule set and an alert when that rule set fires; the order is still yours to send. Connecting a bot to a broker so it places the order for you is a separate Beta module, covered on the auto trading page.

Algo trading questions, answered

Do I need to know how to code to use algo trading?

No. You describe the strategy in plain English and the builder turns it into exact rules you can read and edit. There is no scripting language and no formula editor to learn.

What is backtesting?

Replaying a strategy's rules over real historical candles to see the trades it would have taken. PapsDigital marks every entry and exit on the chart and reports the trade count, win rate and maximum drawdown together, so a small sample is obvious rather than hidden.

Is algo trading legal in India?

Yes. Retail algorithmic trading is permitted; what is regulated is how orders reach the exchange, which is a matter between you and your broker. PapsDigital is a research and decision-support tool and is not a broker, so it does not route orders.

Which markets and timeframes can I build strategies on?

Nifty 50, Bank Nifty, Sensex, Gold (XAU/USD) and Bitcoin, on 15m, 1h, 4h and 1d.

Does a good backtest mean the strategy will make money?

No, and any tool that implies otherwise is selling you something. A backtest tells you how a rule behaved on candles that already happened. It is evidence against a bad idea, not proof of a good one, which is why paper trading sits between the backtest and live alerts.
